Jingles Introduction

Jingles are a large part of radio shows, they are used in order for the audience to identify what radio they are listening to, it is also important as the purpose of jingles is to be memorable for the listeners, a successful jingle will remain in the listeners mind. They keep things fresh and interesting. Jingles have a musical melody and they audience get more out of the catchy and sometimes annoying tune when to is played in the car. Another benefit of jingles is that they remind the listener what radio they are listening to, sometimes a voiceover will introduce the station and what type of music can be expected when listening to the the show. This will keep them tuned in.

In some way jingles give the radio an identity in the eyes of the audience. Jingles contain hook and meaning that promotes the radio. This is through a catchy tune.
What makes jingles so effective is that they are short and simple. A catchy tune is the most important part but also the most difficult, it must be memorable. I think having a positive feel is also a key point, the audience will feel happier and there fore more likely to remember the tune. These are all important ideas I must remember to include when it comes to creating my own jingle.
