Comparing News Bulletins- Absolute and Kiss

In my last post I listened to Absolute radio and Kiss FM radio. In this blog I will be comparing both radio to see if they share and similarities in terms of running order and news stories. The radio stations I listened to only had one story in common, this being the death of David Bowie.
Absolute radio plays the rock genre of music, they target an audience between the ages of 24-44 year olds. The type of stories that have been reported, in my opinion are targeting towards the older section of the targeted audience. The first story that is reported is about metropolitan police department, this is more understood and appreciated by the older listeners. The story about the river thames home owners, could only be related by a person who has a home, they can understand the effect of a house flooding has on the family who live there.

Kiss FM chose to use a story on the dangers of dating apps as their first story, this relates to their younger target audience as the younger generation is more likely to use dating app, by reporting this story they are warning the younger listeners about dating apps and how life threatening they can be. The last story is about mental illness is teenagers and how the government is doing more to help this cause. Most teenagers have a mental illness or know someone who does.

The only news story that both radio stations have in common is about the death of music legend David Bowie. I think that this is because they gave so much to the world in terms of music and entertainment that music radio stations have to leave everyone with a good memory of him. In Kiss FM one song was played for him, where as in Absolute they donated their whole day to playing songs by David Bowie, this is because their genre of music is rock and David Bowie is a rock legend.
